Question #1

Q: There are so many Mentoring programs available now offering professional development. How would you characterize your programs?

A: Thank you for your enquiry! Probably one of the best ways for me to answer this question is to provide you with an informal assessment I received from a mentor. Please read this: Testimonial from Mentor

Response to the above link:

I was very happy to receive this feed back as it addressed many of the features and differences of our unique program. Our programs are results driven and are dependant on individual objectives to ensure the best professional fit for candidates.

Professional development focuses on results driven strategies rather than knowledge expertise. Asking the right questions and transferring accountability is effective in developing leadership for both Mentors and Mentees.

The fact that Mentor is committed to participating again is a testament to the lasting relationships and communities that develop from the program. This is a common experience for us. If you want to know more about our mentoring program, please see this page (mentorship), or contact us

Question #2

Q. I am planning to emigrate to Canada, can you help me find a job?

A. If you have already completed your documentation and have been accepted by the Canadian government then yes, we can help you find a job based on your skills, education and level of experience.

It takes time to research the market and find where you best fit within the Canadian workforce so I would encourage you to start now rather than later.

For more information on our services for immigrants here(our “services” page)

We cannot help you immigrate to Canada. The immigration laws are constantly changing. For informed advice on entry into Canada go to: Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) website This is your best source of information about immigrating to and settling in Canada

If you are seeking individual assistance or consulting from a licensed immigration consultant we can refer a professional. You can contact us, or contact directly at Nuriye Sahin

Question #3

Q. I have been getting advice to network in Canada, yet I do not know anyone. What should I do?

A. You do not need to have a network in place to succeed, and unless you are developing cross cultural skills or are meeting with an Association of professionals that share your expertise, I would advise you not to waste time networking.

Let me be clear:

Resumes and networking are two of the least effective ways to find a job that ensures the best fit for your skills. I am not saying they are not important. We have many years of experience in communications and resume development. What I am saying is there are more effective lead strategies for finding employment that best fit you.

Research is key. Research positions you to find the job or career that best fits you. Making informed decisions allows you to run the show, and make informed decisions. It provides you with the tools to ensure your own success.

The most commonly promoted methods for career training often leave job seekers underemployed in organizations that are not the best fit.

Question #4

Q. I have not worked in my field of expertise in over 4 years, since arriving in Canada. Can you help me re-enter my field of expertise?

A. Yes in all likelihood we will be able to help you find a job in your field of expertise. We review each case individually to determine the health of your sector and your level of skills and job market preparedness.

If you are a doctor, veterinarian or nurse, the answer is sadly no. For an alternative I would investigate the BioTalent sector council. They are offering fast track assessment and recognition of medical degrees for transfer into their sector.

Question #5

Q. I have been told that I do not have enough Canadian experience, yet I was encouraged to come to Canada based on my skills and experience. I am angry, confused and now I am losing confidence. Would your company be able to help me?

A. Yes we can help you! A significant number of our clients have shared your experience. Please send us a copy of your resume and a number we can contact you. We will review your resume and then call you to let you know how we might best assist you.

Question #6 ….. For Employers

Q. We are finding it increasingly difficult to find experts with the right skills for our company and are unsure on how to assess, hire and integrate IEPs into our organization. Would you be able to provide us with any workable solutions?

A. We certainly can! One of our key strengths is assessing the strength, skills and best market fit of Internationally Educated Professionals (IEPs). Finding the right fit, and by extension providing long term retention for your organization, is fundamental in achieving labour and economic stability.

Many communities, municipalities and cities have experienced and technically skilled professionals looking for work. Yet many companies spend tens, even hundreds of thousands of dollars recruiting overseas.

Question #7

Q. I am frustrated by the complexity, cost and time required to apply for a Labour Market Opinion (LMO). Are there simpler and faster solutions? – A Hiring Manger-

A. Yes there are many other solutions available to you that will often provide faster, less expensive and more effective results. Solutions can include elements of social networking, community involvement as well as company branding designed to attract employees that offer the right fit. Often the skills you are looking for are already on your door step.

Question #8……Municipalities

Q. As a Municipality we’ve come to recognize that we are facing serious labour shortages. We know that we need to attract professionals to our community who will want to settle to ensure long term economic sustainability. Do you have any expertise in this area?

A. I love this question as the solutions tend to create stronger and more inclusive communities. The answer to your question is YES. We are the experts in this area! Each situation is different and labour trends, local economies, business partnerships and community will all play a big part in developing strategies that deliver results. Please feel free to call us for more specific information.

Question #9

Q. A friend of mine recommended that I contact you because they said you know what you are doing. I have already been through four programs that have promised to help me find a job. The best they have been able to provide to me over the last 6 months is a greeting position at one of the local box stores. How can you help me when everyone else has failed? I have a Masters in Business intelligence.

A. I think the main difference between us and other organizations is our mandate. We are dedicated to leveling the playing field for internationally educated professionals in measurable ways. It is paramount that our clients find employment that matches their expertise. Nothing else is acceptable to us and our strategic model allows that to happen.
